Vic: Legal group slams premier on corruption stance
JOHN BRUMBY's been accused of pre-judging his own government review by saying an independent
anti-corruption commission in Victoria isn't necessary.
The Victorian premier's been defiant in recent days over calls for such a commission
.. saying off-air following an ABC interview that the issue's being pushed by greenie
leftie lawyers.
But the Law Institute of Victoria says there's a strong case for a new government approach
and has issued Mr BRUMBY a please explain over his comments critical of lawyers.
The state government's expected to receive a report in May on Victoria's integrity
and anti-corruption watchdogs .. including the Office of Police Integrity and Victoria
Police.
